Glenn Morrison

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

My mate Glenn Morrison from Canada seems to be doing rather well for himself. He’s been in the studio a lot with his pal Deadmau5 who’s obviously flying high at the moment…

Well Glenns stuff obviously has that Deadmau5 vibe about it (as they share a studio) which aint a bad thing, and with Glenns diverse musical knowledge and experience from DJ-ing, I can see Glenn doing really well fo himself.

His track Contact on Deadmau5‘ label Mau5trap has been one of our biggest sellers this year, and his latest (signed to Armin Van Buurens imprint) No More Moves / Circles is a winner too!

He also has his own digital label called Morrison Recordings too which is doing well for him too…

Onwards and upwards Glenn – don’t forget me when you’re famous…

R.I.P Mel Cheren

Monday, December 10th, 2007

We were very sad to hear that sometime over the weekend the Legendary Mel Cheren died, due to Hiv complications.

Mel Cheren started his career in the music in 1959 & was known as the godfather of Disco, having played a major part in the Legendary Paradise garage &  was co founder of the ground breaking West End Records wich paved the way for many of the house records you hear today.

Mel was also very involved in Aids charity work. I met Mel at his home in New York last year & found him a lovely, passionate & warming man & even after our few hours spent together will never forget the time i met Mel Cheren.

Chemical Brothers

Monday, December 10th, 2007

We had a bit of a 3 beat night out last night, and we went to see the mighty Chemical Brothers perform in Aintree for Liverpool Music Week.

After seeing them at Creamfileds, we knew what to expect, and the boys certainly delivered! As well as performing all of the biggies from  classics like Block Rockin Beats, Brothers Gonna Work It Out, Out Of Control (although a mad dubby mix sampling Primal Scream!), Get Yorself High and Star Guitar to newer bits like Do It Again and  Hey Boy, Hey Girl… they boys rocked it!

As well as live remixed versions of the tracks, the visuals acompanying the performance on a huge backdrop behind the band added an extra dimension, featuring Dancing Robots, Red monkeys climbing ropes, exploding paintballs, dancing men with guns and more!

If they are near you, go and see them!

‘The Club’ – Paradise Factory

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

They have just announced the linups for their new club, the first party is with Laurent Garnier & Mike Pickering which should be a winner, then the next week is High contrast, skream, logistics & Kode 9. Followed by Steve Angello & Paul Woolford playing the next week.
