GU RELAUNCHES NUBREED WITH JIM RIVERS

The underground’s rumour mill has been going into overdrive for the last few weeks, but it’s finally time to set the record straight. After a break of 7 years, Global Underground is to resurrect their legendary ‘nubreed’ compilation series, with rising Brit star Jim Rivers stepping up to the plate for the first album.

‘nubreed 7’ will be released on 30 March 2009 accompanied by a Global World Tour.

The DJ mix series that began in 2000, helped launch the careers of some of modern dance music’s greatest DJs – Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge, Anthony Pappa and Satoshi Tomiie.

Following that illustrious line up, Jim Rivers has gained a worldwide reputation for his glitchy, groovy electronic sound, with an enviable CV notching up frequent dates at clubs like Ministry of Sound, Shindig and Urban Gorilla in the UK, as well as an international schedule that’s seen him return to countless venues across the globe. His production pedigree includes Saved, Bedrock, Global Underground, Mouseville, Four:Twenty, Simple, Renaissance and Saw Recordings, and his own label, Misfit Records.

“It’s been a long search, but finally I’ve found a DJ worthy of the nubreed series, welcome aboard Jim Rivers! Jim’s DJing, original productions, and remixing make him stand head and shoulders above the current crop of DJs; he’s a true star. nubreed was instrumental in showcasing to the wider world the career’s of now legendary DJs like Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler and Danny Howells and Jim will fit in perfectly with the nubreed pedigree”.

Andy Horsfield, Global Underground founder

With the mix 3 months in the making, ‘nubreed 7’ promises to establish new standards for dance compilations and looks set to launch another career into the stratosphere…

“As a fan, to hear that nubreed was to return was very exciting, but to be asked to re-launch the series after 7 years, that was something else, something monumental. I’ve been working with GU for the last 4 years and knew that they had faith in me, but I never expected to get the call. To get this kind of opportunity – and from such a well-respected label – well, it kind of blew me away… The previous releases were of such a high standard that I knew I had to deliver. Hopefully, people will enjoy it.”

Jim Rivers, Jan 2009

Cahill Ft. Nikki Belle ‘Sex Shooter’ Press Release

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

CAHILL ft NIKKI BELLE ‘SEX SHOOTER’

LABEL: 3 BEAT BLUE / RELEASED 2nd MARCH ‘09

The masters of floor-filling, funky house music are back. On 2nd March, Cahill follow up ‘Trippin On You’ their smash hit from last year, with another huge dancefloor classic, ‘Sex Shooter’. Already added to the Galaxy Network playlist 10 weeks before release, it looks like Cahill are on target once again.

‘Sex Shooter’ was originally a hit in 1984 for Prince protégés, Apollonia 6, however, it became best known for the sexy video that accompanied it. Fast forward to 2009 and Cahill have revamped, remixed and reinvigorated this classic track. And with a nod to the past, Cahill’s version comes complete with the sexiest video likely to grace our screens this year.

Nikki Belle steps into the role of Apollonia and delivers the trademark, top quality vocals that have seen her become one of the most in demand vocalists in clubland. She was near the edge as the vocalist for Mousse T’s ‘Horny’, but here she dives straight over, delivering a performance that oozes sex appeal and will have bodies gyrating up close on dancefloors across the country.

The musical maestros behind Cahill are Liverpool’s own, DJ Anton Powers, Tim Condran and studio wizard Scott Rosser. Since the success of ‘Trippin On You’ they’ve been busy remixing the likes of Taio Cruz, Alesha Dixon and Chris Brown, whilst also working on their debut album project.

3 Beat Blue, the label from Liverpool’s legendary record shop, 3 Beat, have put together another stunning set of remixes all ready to set the dancefloors alight. Dave Ramone takes the original and skilfully overlays a slightly tougher and bouncier edge. Soul Avengerz bring things bang up to date, delivering a quality electro house workout. Crazy Cousins give us a carnival flavour with their lush production and latin flavoured beats. Next up, Agent X delivers for the bassline massive, with a warped bass and skipping beats doing the business. And last but not least, Outsource crank up the tempo with a mix for the floors that like it hard and fast.

As the girls gather on the dancefloor singing, ‘I’m a sex shooter, shooting love in your direction’, watch the boys fight to get in the firing line!

Tune Of The Week

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

My tune of the week goes to to Carl Craig’s mix of Martin Buttrich ‘Stoned Autopilot’ on Planet E. It doesnt differ too much from the original but adds plenty of punch to the drums and an allround beefier feel. Also you get the previously unreleases Jona ‘Oblique’ on the flipside. Megatron!!!

check it out here!
