Prydz/Pryda - Fabric Test

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Does Eric Prydz ever sleep? Or does he just sit there locked in his room making anthems? 3 Beat Records staff are al amazed by how consistant this chap is - he’s had poppy hits under his Eric Prydz name, Pryda is his underground guise and the Cirez D is when he wears his techno hat - yet they are all outstanding… how des he do it?

Fabric Test is the latest one that we’ve heard, and its huge - check it out when Sasha and Digweed dropped in in Miami

Mark Ronson - Nice Guy, Good DJ and very tall!

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I had the pleasure of DJ-ing with Mark Ronson on Satuday night @ Bandstand, and I was curious to hear what he would play, as I know he used to be a Hip Hop DJ and grew up in New York, but then I know the kind of music that he’d had hits with too… So all of the 3 Beat lads were very interested to hear him play…

Anyway, I was DJ-ing and playing mainly 80’s party dance (stuff like Colonel Abrahams - Trapped, Cameo - Word Up, Gwen Guthrie - Aint Nothing Goin On But The Rent etc) and then i dropped New Order - Blue Monday, which got an enormous scream from the crowd, proper hysteria… until I’d realised that a very tall man in a suit with a Massive top hat had walked on stage.. Ah.. It was Mark Ronson.. makes sense with the screams now! Ha Ha..

So Mark politely asks can he borrow my headphones, as his team of men set up Serrato for him (superstars often forget head phones, co-incidently Rob Da Bank had forgotten his too…) and he complimented me on my musical choice “I’ve been listening from the other room, you’ve been playing some great tracks, it reminded me a lot of a club that I used to go to in New York” he said, which made me smile…

So Mark comes on, and it musically made sense to me, he was playing upbeat Motown kind of tracks, Stevie Wonder, Supremes, and then stuff like his version of Valerie (which raises the roof of course) and then he drops in to old school hip hop party rockers like Walk This Way. By this time I’d had too much beer and cant remember too much else that he played!

He later went on upstairs and did the full live thing, and was rather good!

A Good night was had by all though

Ladytron - Sasha Remix!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Proving my trainspotter status is still as good as ever, i managed to piece together bits of information, and although I wasnt even at the Sasha gig at Circus, I manged to find out before anybody else that went what the ‘huge vocal tune’ was that he dropped in the middle of the night!

Its the new Sasha remix of the new Ladytron track, and it will appear first on Sasha’s Involver 2…

Pezz’s 40th birthday, chats with desa from bassheads, greg wilson on tele and 20:20 vision

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

yes I know thats a heck of a title ‘Pezz’s 40th birthday, chats with desa from bassheads and greg wilson on tele and 20:20 vision‘ for a blog, but it does all make sense.. I’ll explain..

On Saturday we celebrated Pezz from 3 Beat Records 40th birthday (happy birthday baldy if you are reading this), and Greg Wilson the disco legend was DJ-ing, and dropping some damn fine underground disco classics.

I was speaking to Desa from the Bassheads at Pezz’s party, and he was telling me a story that greg Wilson was the first DJ ever to play on Uk television, on the legendary Tube no less!

Anway, Monday morning comes and I’m sent a new promo CD, mixed and compiled by Greg Wilson for 20:20 Vision (the fine label of Ralph Lawson), and part of the press pack was a link to Greg playing on the Tube…

And so, you see, the worlds craziest blog title of ‘ Pezz’s 40th birthday, chats with desa from bassheads, greg wilson on tele and 20:20 vision’ does make sense after all…
