Skepta & Kano kicking back on set
The AMAZING video for Skepta’s brand new single “Lay Her Down” just landed. Taken from Skepta’s forthcoming album Konnichiwa, the single is a strong summer vibe which features Skepta and Kano laying down verses over a laid back 80′s inspired disco track.
Get your skates on and get ready to bathe in a warm splash of retro sunshine…
Rising star Taylor Fowlis took the Liverpool Soundcity festival by storm at the weekend with her performance at The Garage.
She shared the bill with some big names – Aluna George and Bastille.
But it was Taylor’s name that was the buzz around Soundcity. If you missed her amazing performance, take a look now.
Here she is performing “Heartlight”, her hit with Ts7
And singing the beautiful “Compare Her To Me”.
If you listen to 1Xtra, Choice FM or Kiss FM you will have already danced around your kitchen/bedroom/living room/garden to the joyfully infectious Afrobeats smash that is Fuse ODG’s “Antenna”. If you haven’t heard it yet take a look at the official video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LCoksSQMzs – which features Fugees legend Wyclef Jean – and start working on your moves.
And listeners of 1Xtra and Kiss are going to be hearing the single a whole lot more because it just got added to the 1Xtra B-list playlist and the Kiss ‘Breaking Beats’ playlist.
The good news doesn’t stop there. “Antenna” is riding high at number 2 on the Music Week Urban Club Chart as well as being a new entry at number 7 on the Cool Cuts Chart.
Summer is just an Afrobeat away…
We’ve just been sneaking a peek at the first edit of the brand new Skepta video for the his new single “Lay Her Down” featuring Kano and we love love love it!
The vibe is old skool and dreamy – think sunshine, bare legs and roller-skates. The video goes live on Tuesday, until then here’s a photo-taster.

Special thanks to Junior Quartey Nunoo of production company New Treatment for the behind-the-scenes photos!
The Choice FM Norte Show Live was the place to be last night – the Bank Holiday Special almost blew the roof off London’s Jazz Café with help from Fuse ODG and Stylo G.

Choice FM’s Manny Norte has championed Stylo G from the beginning. Massive respect!
The two of them caught up in the studio earlier…check the MAAAD freestyle!
You can pre-order Stylo G’s latest single “Soundbwoy” here.
It started life as a skit on his recent mixtape Blacklisted, but the response to “Lay Her Down” from fans was so BIG that Skepta decided to record a full length version, inviting Kano along to do a guest vocal.
Choice FM’s Jenny Francis gave the track it’s world exclusive spin on her Hype@12 show, which was followed by plays from fellow Choice DJs Firin Squad, Ras Kwame and Woody. Charlie Sloth gave the track its first 1Xtra spin, AND NOW he’s made it his Record of The Week. Yes, Charlie’s Cracker is “Lay Her Down”, thank you Charlie Sloth.
The excitement doesn’t stop there! Skepta and Kano headed down to Battersea earlier this week to shoot the official video. Skepta tweeted this photo of the stars of the show kicking back on set.
Bursting with colour, the video has an old skool 80’s/90’s vibe – think Fresh Prince meets the Kids from Fame.
The director Konstantin Ermakov loved “Lay Her Down” so much when he heard it on Blacklisted that he was inspired to put this video together. So great that he got to shoot the official video too.
The set was teeming with beautiful women, but it looks like Skepta only had eyes for the car, tweeting this pic after the shoot wrapped up.
We’re looking forward to saying ‘Konichiwa’ to the final edit
Radio 1’s Queen of Daytime Sara Cox has picked Stylo G’s hot dancehall smash “Soundbwoy” to be her ‘Big Thing’ this week. She’ll be playing the single every day between 10am and 1pm.
If you missed the first play earlier today you can listen back here.
Ever wondered what’s on Stylo’s all time favourite playlist? The guys over at Earmilk.com asked him just that and he put together this ‘Influencer Chart’ for them. His picks cross decades and continents and come from the likes of Busta Rhymes, Beenie Man, Bridget Kelly and Snoop Dogg. Genius!
If you’re in London this weekend, get yourself down to the Jazz Café on Friday night and catch Stylo G live. He’ll be joining his 3 Beat label mate Fuse ODG as part of The Norte Show Live, hosted by Choice FM’s Manny Norte. It’s going to be a massive night. You can get tickets here.
“Soundbwoy” isn’t out until May 26th but you can pre-order your copy on iTunes now.

It might be raining outside but there’s no damping down the appetite for Stylo G’s new single “Soundbwoy”. Last night Kiss FM’s DJ Hype played the massive Sigma remix of the track. If you haven’t heard it yet have a listen here.
Today Stylo’s interview with The Voice Online went live. In it he talks to Dionne Grant about why he wants to celebrate the term ‘Yardie’ and opens up about his father, Jamaican dancehall star Poison Chang, who died when Stylo was just 13.
The day ended with People’s Prince Charlie Sloth playing “Soundbwoy” yet again on his drivetime show on 1Xtra. Thanks for all the support Charlie!
Definitely a good day at the office…
