MOBO award winner and This Is New Africa ambassador Fuse ODG joined legendary newsman Jeremy Paxman on the set of BBC2’s Newsnight last night.
Fuse was there to talk to Jeremy about his mission to change people’s perception of Africa through his music. He explained to Jeremy that Afrobeats is showing a different side to Africa by showcasing the diverse music, new business and fashion that is flourishing across the continent.
Fuse played Newsnight out with his latest hit “Million Pound Girl”, but sadly Jeremy missed his chance to join in with a spot of Azonto-ing…

Massive congratulations to our very own Afrobeats star Fuse ODG on winning the MOBO award for Best African Act.
Fuse was up against some of Africa’s biggest stars in the category – the other nominees were Atumpan, Ice Prince, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid.
His blistering performance at the awards show, absolutely the best of the night, underlined just how much he deserved to win.
Ghanaian Fuse won the hearts of UK voters with his uplifting, positive and infectious blend of West African and hip-hop influences. His single “Antenna” shot to number 7 in the UK chart earlier this year and he’s currently teaching the world to “Azonto”.
In the most passionate, heartfelt and moving acceptance speech of the night, Fuse shared his vision of changing the Western perception of Africa through music – This is New Africa!
We’re couldn’t be more proud.
